Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of cultural differences of idiom expression and translation between China and western countries. With the results of this study, we could guide translators to know about the way of translation of idioms from Chinese to English and from English to Chinese. Several kinds of cultural differences will be discussed containing the differences in geographic and living environment, the differences of historic backgrounds, the differences of customs and differences of believes of religions. Through the study of the cultural differences, we can seek out the way of translation of idioms. There are several ways of translation as word for word translation, liberal translation, combination of word for word translation and liberal translation and taking advantage of different images to represent the same meaning.

摘要：本文讨论了中国和西方国家的文化差异对习语表达方式和翻译的影响。根据研究的结果引导译者学会从中文翻译到英文或从英文翻译成中文的方法。本文将讨论几种文化差异，包括：地理和生活环境的差异、历史背景的差异、风俗习惯的差异和宗教信仰的差异。在此基础上提出了习语翻译的几种方法，如直译、意译、直译加意译和代换法。
