Abstract: This paper attempts to study the diplomatic euphemism from the Cooperation Principle of the pragmatics. It aims to help the readers to understand the real meaning of the diplomatic speeches and reports, then to understand the diplomatic activities better. This thesis illustrates diplomatic euphemism and the features of diplomatic language, and then analyzes materials in five press conferences from the aspect of the cooperation principle. According to the analysis of the examples, the readers can see that diplomatic euphemism is widely used by diplomats in the diplomatic activities and in order to achieve their real purposes, diplomats often flouts the CP.

摘要：外交委婉语在新闻发布会中被广泛使用，因此对外交委婉语进行语用分析十分必要。本文试图从语用学中的合作原则角度对外交委婉语进行探究，旨在让大众更好地了解外交活动，更全面充分地理解外交发言、外交报道的真实内涵。本文阐述了外交语言和外交委婉语的特征，随后选用了五篇新闻发布会的内容，从合作原则对其进行举例分析，从而得出外交人员在对外交流中，经常违反语用学中的合作原则， 来达到委婉表达的目的。
