Abstract:  The Thorn Birds is a saga novel about three generations of the Clearys with the theme of love and fate, focusing on the love story between Meggie and Father Ralph. This paper chooses three main female images in the novel as the targets, analyzing their pursuit and struggle for love and happiness. By comparing their different experiences, a conclusion is drawn that apart from one's own endeavors, social background also accounts for the success of achieving love and happiness.

摘要：《荆棘鸟》是一部关于克利里一家三代的家世小说，以牧场主的女儿梅吉与罗马大主教拉尔夫之间缠绵悱恻的爱情为主线，讲述了一个以爱和命运为主题的爱情故事。本文旨在对小说中的三位女性形象进行分析，探究她们对属于自己的爱和幸福的追求以及为此做出的努力。通过对比她们的不同经历，得到这样一个结论：在追求真正的爱和幸福的过程中，个人的努力不是唯一的决定因素，时代背景也是不可忽视的一个方面。
