Abstract:In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars have studied examples from many aspects, such as semantics, pragmatics and philology, and they have made important achievements. However, the status quo of examples in China is that people do not pay enough attention to them. Many college students are weak in the basic knowledge of English, and in the process of learning English, they always meet various kinds of problems, many of which can be solved with the assistance of dictionaries. However, most students use dictionaries only to look for meanings, pronunciations, but pay less attention to the examples in the dictionaries. This thesis briefly introduces functions of examples in E-C bilingualised learner's dictionaries, and argues that examples in E-C bilingualised learner's dictionaries can improve college students' English learning if the dictionaries are properly made use of. By analyzing the results of the designed test, the author tries to justify examples’ positive role in college students' English learning.

摘要:近年来,国内外学者已从语义学、语用学等诸多方面对例证进行研究,也取得了一些重要成果,然而人们对例证仍然缺乏足够的重视。许多大学生的英语基础较薄弱,在英语学习的过程中,会遇到很多用到英汉双解学习型词典的地方,但大多时候他们只是翻看单词的意思或拼音等,很少充分利用词典中的例证。本文简述了英汉双解词典中例证的功能,并设计了相应的测试,指出英汉双解学习型词典中的例证如果被恰当使用,就能促进大学生英语学习。
