Abstract:Dickens is the great writer of England. This thesis aims to analyze his work Oliver Twist in writing skills and the significance of creation. In Oliver Twist, Dickens mainly employs the third person. He uses the omniscient point of view .The narrator knows all things. The readers hear his voice; feel his existences, and his idea. At the same time, Dickens uses the primary function of a narration to recount actions and events and uses suspense get the readers attention and interest. Dickens is a lifelong champion of the poor. In Oliver Twist, he challenges the organizations of charity run by the Church and the government in Dickens’s time. And at the same time, he makes a strong criticism on the folly of individualism which is regarded as a philosophy vogue during the Industrial Revolution. He gives voice to those who had no voice, establishing a link between politics and literature with his social commentary.

中文摘要:本论文旨在研究英国伟大作家狄更斯的作品——《雾都孤儿》，着重从写作手法和创作意义方面进行分析。在《雾都孤儿》这部作品中，叙事者是以第三人称全知视角出现。叙事者掌控着全局，读者听着他的声音，感知他的存在，体会着他的思想。狄更斯还巧妙的组织叙事结构，安排各事件发生的顺序，运用悬念，引起读者的兴趣。狄更斯不仅是伟大的作家，也是穷人的斗士。他通过《雾都孤儿》这部作品对他所生活的时代教会和政府建立的慈善机构提出了质疑，同时猛烈抨击了工业革命时期兴起的个人主义。用他的批评将政治与文学联系了起来，为那些没有发言权的人呐喊！
