Abstract：Foreign language is a very important tool of getting information of the world and communicating with other foreign countries. Reading is an important means of comprehending and gaining the information of language. It can help students to enlarge their vocabulary, study knowledge of foreign language, and learn the society and culture in English speaking countries. Therefore, comprehensive reading is becoming more and more important in the college entrance examination today. Students’ reading ability should be improved. In this paper, the method of how to deal with new words in comprehensive reading is discussed. I will give some useful skills and examples that are practical for students. And they can help them to improve their reading ability day by day.

中文摘要：外语是学习国外文化科学知识、获取世界各方面信息和进行国际交往的重要工具。阅读是吸收和理解语言信息的重要手段，它有助于学生开阔视野，丰富语言知识，扩大词汇量和了解英语国家的社会及文化等。因此，阅读在近几年的高考题中逐年升温。单词阅读量增加，对考生猜词能力的要求也进一步提高。本文结合实例，归纳出一些解题的技巧让学生在阅读过程中提高猜词的能力和阅读技巧，为他们继续学习和发展奠定基础。
