Abstract:This thesis is intended to investigate the choice of subtitle translation tactics within the theoretical framework of Skopos Theory. There are four parts in the thesis. Part one is an introduction to the purpose of the study, the structure of the thesis and the theoretical framework. Part two reviews relevant studies concerning subtitle translation at home and abroad. Part three focuses on subtitle translation tactics used in Vampire Diary and analyzes the advantage of using the tactics. In Conclusion, the last part of the thesis, the author tries to explore in detail the relationship between the choice of translation tactics and the realization of the three rules of the Skopos Theory.
