Abstract:In recent years, scholars at home and abroad pay more attention to American slang. Based on previous research, this thesis firstly introduces the origin, development and definition of American slang. Then taking the Big Bang Theory for example, the characteristics of American slang are analyzed from the aspects of humor, simplicity, vivid image and rich rhythmicity. Finally, the factors that influence American slang are discussed from three aspects, including cultures, history and new concepts. By analyzing the features of American slang, this paper aims to make people know more about American slang and American cultures in order to effectively promote cross-cultural communication.
