Abstract

Vocabulary is the foundation of learning a language and the smallest unit of language learning. It is vital for English beginners to master vocabulary well. Without understanding, memory and application of vocabulary, language skills can not be generated. Therefore, it is important for English teachers to do well in English vocabulary teaching in primary school. Nowadays, applying storytelling in English vocabulary teaching in primary school is proved to be a general trend. Storytelling can not only arouse students’ interest and passion in English vocabulary learning, but also can improve students’ integrated skills of listening，speaking，reading and writing in English．At the same time，it improves students’ communicative and cooperative capability. As a revolution to the traditional teaching modes, it predicts the future trend of modern teaching.
