Abstract: It has been well recognized both at home and abroad that compared to simply passing the students knowledge or leading them with instructions, developing students’ efficient learning methods and strategies is much more meaningful and necessary. Among these methods and strategies, metacognitive strategy receives more and more attention. There have been many studies about metacognitive strategy and show a significant role it plays in students’ learning in the field of ESL and EFL. However, the truth is that in the daily junior English classes the development of metacognitive strategy has its own difficulties at present. In this paper, the author attempts to explore the practical methods for developing metacognitive strategy in language learning, the main problems, and any possible solutions towards that.
