ABSTRACT

Slang is an important part of language, there are large amount of English slangs in English. The understanding and master of slang is the key sign of the language competence of language learners.

This paper studies the concepts, origins and fundamental features of English slang. This paper also discuss English slang from cultural and translation perspective. Some suggestions about translation principles and methods are offered for learners.

This essay aims to help learners master the slang and its connotation, and enhance the learners’ culture awareness in English learning .It is also hoped that this research can benefit English learning and avoid communication barriers, thus promoting the efficiency of learners’ intercultural communication.
