Abstracts: As the Chinese pioneers of spreading the translations of Chinese classical books to foreign countries, Ku Hwengming and D.C.Lau respectively translated Lun-Yu into the English versions of Analects of Confucius between 1898 and 1979. A lot of researchers at home and abroad spent much time studying Analects of Confucius from all angles. But very few people discuss the translations of Analects of Confucius in terms of subjectivity of translator and its three aspects. This paper tries to compare Ku’s translation of Analects of Confucius with Lau’s translation of Analects of Confucius under the guidance of subjectivity of translator and they are mainly as followed: word choice and lexical features, sentence patterns and page layout, differing stylistic features. Then, this paper explores the roots of those from self-center, dynamic role and passivity. It concludes that the translations are influenced by three factors in subjectivity of translator and different translators’ subjectivity is controlled by epochal influence, ideological influence and roots of stylistic tendencies.

Key words: subjectivity of translator; Analects of Confucius; causes of differences and similarities
