Abstract:Oxymoron, as one of the most important figures of speech in William Shakespeare’s plays, has been widely and wisely used in many of his works. The major concern of my graduating paper is to identify and analyze Shakespeare’s application of oxymoron in some critical scenes of Romeo and Juliet, which emphasize the conflicts in the minds of its main characters, the contradictions between the characters and among its plots. By interpreting the oxymora used in some particular scenes in the play, this paper attempts to show the strong, complicated and combined emotions of love and hate between the two main characters, and also to highlight the remarkable effects of Shakespeare’s use of oxymoron in Romeo and Juliet.

摘要：矛盾修饰法（Oxymoron）是莎士比亚戏剧中最重要的修辞手法之一，在他的多部戏剧作品中有着广泛而恰到好处的运用。本文以莎士比亚悲剧代表作之一《罗密欧与朱丽叶》为文本，以戏剧发展的重要情节为框架，着重从矛盾修饰法表现人物内心矛盾、人物关系冲突和戏剧情节矛盾等三个视角，对戏剧《罗密欧与朱丽叶》的主人公罗密欧与朱丽叶的对白进行分析和解读。通过对典型场景的矛盾修饰法分析，展示了男女主人公之间强烈而矛盾的爱恨情感；从矛盾修饰法的角度分析感情纠葛可以进一步反应作品人物之间和家族之间的矛盾冲突，进而深化论文主题, 更加突出了矛盾修饰法在莎士比亚戏剧中举足轻重的地位和不可忽视的作用。
