Abstract: The thesis firstly introduces the author of The Catcher in the Rye and the social background of the novel. Then, it analyzes the growing experience of Holden from two aspects: one is Holden’s bewilderment to adult world and the other is his longing and pursuit for love and innocence. Through the analysis both the reasons and embodiment of the main character Holden’s suffering and confusion are explained. In conclusion, his growing pains are not only caused by his typical adolescent psychology, but also by the terrible environment of the family, school and society. In the end, it is hoped that family, society and school can work together to guide the growth of adolescents and help teenagers to establish the correct values and outlook on life.

摘要：本论文首先介绍了小说《麦田里的守望者》的作者及写作背景，接着通过解读书中主人公霍尔顿的成长历程，从主人公对成人世界的困惑以及对纯真的渴望和追求两方面来阐述其成长烦恼的原因与体现。霍尔顿成长的痛苦不仅是由个人心理造成的，而且和当时的环境有关。在论文结论处，作者呼吁家庭、社会、学校共同努力引导青少年走出成长困境，帮助他们树立正确的价值观和人生观，从而使其身心得到健康地成长，顺利走向成年期。
