Abstract: This paper focuses on analyzing and studying translation of English long sentences on the basis of contrast between English and Chinese with English long sentences illustrated. This paper tries to analyze differences between English and Chinese in five aspects: hypotaxis and parataxis, complexity and simplicity, passive and active, static and dynamic, substitution and repetition, and use the finding to analyze the English long sentence translation, therefore, conversions from English to Chinese in translation could be concluded, suitable translation methods could be selected, and reasonable translation procedures could be arranged. This paper aims to be used for reference in the study of English long sentence translation in future.

摘要：本文通过英汉语言对比例证，对英语长句翻译进行分析与研究。本文从形合与意合、繁复与简短、被动与主动、静态与动态、照应与重复这五个方面分析英语和汉语的差异，再用这些理论知识分析英语长句翻译，总结出在英语长句翻译过程中需要进行英汉转换的种种情况，挑选出适合英语长句的翻译方法，整理出英语长句翻译的合理步骤，旨在为英语长句翻译研究提供一定的借鉴与参考。
